Community Is Kindness- Let's Look Out For Each Other
Right from the start we decided to do things uniquely at Rebelstork. Last year during the month of October we launched our #FLOCKGIVES initiative. At just three months old and with the help of small but loyal FLOCK community, we were able to donate $2000 worth of trees for children to plant. This year we will be giving again to our charity partner The New Mom Project… details to come!
Giving back and taking the time to remember all that we are thankful for is important. Community is kindness, so let's look out for each other.
What are some ways to get involved in your community?
Volunteer Virtually
Before we were all affected by COVID-19, volunteering was something you could do all over your community. But with new social distancing guidelines, these opportunities have changed. If you’re not comfortable leaving your home, volunteer virtually! Check out volunteermatch.org and find a way to volunteer virtually!
Write a Note
Checking the mailbox to find a handwritten card = instant good vibes! Hand-written notes have become so rare that they’re even more special to receive. Check in on your mom friends, family and neighbours, just to say how much you appreciate them. If you’re not sure who to write to, reach out in your community. Nursing homes, hospitals, and centers for mental health are a great place to start. If you want to make your notes extra personal, we love Printed Matter Paper and their adorable just because folded note cards.
Support Brands That Are Kind
We all research products before we buy them, but how many of us research the companies that we buy them from? How do their treat their peeps? How do they treat their suppliers? How do they help their community? There are so many amazing companies out there who are socially responsible and give back to the earth or others. Every $$$ you spend acts as a vote so take the time to support businesses that are mindful.
A few of our favourite Canadian brands that give back year-round! Check ‘em out!
Peace Collective: Every time you make a purchase, FIVE school meals are provided to a child in need.
Cuddle & Kind: Every adorable doll purchased provides 10 meals for children in need around the world.
Endy: By partnering with charities across the country they are able to donate new and gently used mattresses to Canadians in need.
Rebelstork… obvi! We are proud to support the circular economy and are so happy to be partnered with The New Mom Project. They are an amazing organization providing baby gear essentials to mamas in need. Any time you add a Rebelstork donation card to your order on our site, we match the amount and donate it to The New Mom Project. Items that we are unable to list on our site are also donated to The New Mom Project.
No matter how you give thanks and give back, you will have a great impact on those around you.
